Meet the mentors at Dr. Cecily Kanter Center for Psychological Services. We provide safe and trusted support in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Miss. Alena
Ms. Alena is a passionate, creative, and dedicated member of the Kanter Center Crew. Miss. Alena brings unique insights and heart to her work with clients and the community. Her passion for working with children has helped her mentees find their voices and become their best selves. Alena uses her own experiences and struggles to connect with kids on a personal level and provides a constant support system. She believes that no one should ever feel alone. Her nonjudgmental and open approach builds a relationship of mutual respect. This relationship fosters exploration and growth. Miss. Alena is an adoptee from Russia and is a LEGO master! In her free time, she likes to spend time with family and friends and work on her latest LEGO or art project. Miss. Alena is a free spirit with an open heart and mind.

Mr. Corey
Mr. Corey is a teddy bear! A passion for helping others and a drive to build a welcoming environment are just a couple of things Mr. Corey brings to the community. Mr. Corey strives to be a trusted friend and support tool for the Kanter Center. He believes that a kind word, an open heart, and a lifetime of experiences can go a long way in helping others grow. Mr. Corey has the uncanny ability to see things from multiple perspectives. He never approaches his work with preconceived opinions. He is a fantastic driver and has a knack for navigating the back roads of Illinois. In his free time, he loves to play with his cat, listen to music, play video games, and build with LEGOS. On a lighter note, he is sure he could win a fight with a bear.

Mr. Jack
Mr. Jack credits Dr. Kanter with helping him be the man he is today. Jack met Dr. Kanter as a third grader struggling with his emotions. His work with Dr. Kanter guided him in his exploration of feelings and stoked a passion for the field of mental health. Mr. Jack has a passion for working with children. He desires to provide a safe environment where everyone’s special talents can be explored. Mr. Jack uses his huge heart and empathetic approach to be a trusted friend to the community. Mr. Jack works to combat the stigma of mental health and guide his mentees to view their struggles/diagnosis as strengths. Jack is open-minded and an out of the box thinker. He is goal oriented and driven and has the unique ability to look at any situation in a positive way. Jack is a former fencer and football player. His passion for athletics has led him to become a rugby player. He has been a member of a high school state champion team. In his free time Jack loves to spend time with family and friends. He also loves to work out and play video games. Jack also loves to hone his dry sense of humor. Jack will be attending John Carroll University in Ohio where he will be majoring in Psychology/Counseling with a minor in Spanish. Mr. Jack will also be a member of the John Carroll University Gators Rugby team.
